Meet The Provider
Erin Athey, DNP, FNP-BC, RN
Founder & CEO of C3 Cares
Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in Washington, D.C
Dr. Erin Athey is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who has spent nearly two decades working on the east side of Washington, D.C., as a clinician, educator, and community-engaged scholar to improve health outcomes for those who are under-resourced and disenfranchised.
Dr. Athey’s experiences as a clinician have led her to develop several innovative, community-based initiatives that focus on improving health literacy and bringing healthcare into these communities. The programs she developed include award-winning mental health literacy programs for adults and youth. In addition, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she pioneered a mobile health program that provided COVID-19 testing and vaccinations as well other clinical services, and health education throughout Wards 5, 6, 7 and 8.
These experiences, combined with her desire to improve access to care in the communities for whom she has dedicated her career, inspired her to create C3 Cares.
You can read more about Dr. Athey and C3 Cares in The Washington Post, ABC News, Forbes, and more, where she has been featured for creating a groundbreaking medical business model that promises to take healthcare delivery to a whole new level – something desperately needed throughout the country.
Dr. Athey is an adjunct faculty member at the George Washington University School of Nursing and an experienced family nurse practitioner who has specialized in the treatment of patients with HIV/AIDS.
