Dr. Erin Athey, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, has dedicated nearly two decades to improving health outcomes in Washington, D.C.'s underserved communities as a clinician, educator, and scholar.
Her work has led to innovative, community-based health initiatives, including award-winning mental health literacy programs and a mobile health program for COVID-19 testing, vaccinations, and education across Wards 5-8.

Driven to enhance healthcare access, Dr. Athey founded C3 Cares, a groundbreaking model featured in The Washington Post, ABC News, and Forbes, recognized for transforming healthcare delivery. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University and specializes in HIV/AIDS care.
Lisa is proud to be part of a nurse-led clinic in community health. She completed both her Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degrees from George Washington University.
Her natural curiosity and care for people, the body, and the mind drew her to nursing in 2002. Her passion for social justice and quality healthcare for all led her to C3 Cares. Her journey from chemist to dedicated nurse practitioner speaks volumes about her passion for connecting science with people.​ She spends her free time enjoying the four generations of her family, cooking with her children, and traveling with her husband.
A Detroit native and U.S. Navy veteran, Adel brings a wealth of experience and perspective to C3 Cares. His career began in hospitality, where he honed his commitment to excellent service and communication. After founding and leading his own company for over a decade, Adel returned to school, earning a Master’s in Nursing Leadership and Management from George Washington University, following his Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

With experience as a Progressive Care Unit and Home Health nurse, Adel has served Northern VA patients with dedication and professionalism. His military background and work with diverse teams make him a skilled leader and mentor. Outside of work, Adel enjoys family time and coaching his kids in sports.
Bicki Serrano

Medical Assistant
Bicki Serrano, a skilled Medical Assistant with C3 Cares, lives and works in DC, focusing on expanding her knowledge in science, healthcare, and fitness. Originally from Honduras, Bicki is a native Spanish speaker who moved to the U.S. in 2018, driven by a desire to create a better life for her family back home. With support from her aunt, Bicki completed high school in the U.S. and continued her studies, earning her Medical Assistant certification in 2024. Alongside her medical work, she has enjoyed diverse experiences, from restaurant roles to enhancing her skills in education, language, and healthcare.

Astride Gilles

Family Nurse Practitioner

Astride joined the C3 Cares team with expertise in perioperative and acute care nursing. With nearly a decade in public health and international development, she has spent the past six years providing care to marginalized and at-risk groups worldwide.
Astride holds degrees in nursing and psychology from George Washington University and Northern Virginia Community College.

In her free time, Astride enjoys the arts, volunteering, exploring cultures, and spending time with family.

Ohara Madikoto

Ohara is a skilled and tech-savvy virtual assistant with five years of experience supporting individuals and clinicians.
With a background as a certified nursing assistant and volunteer experience helping patients with daily activities, she brings strong communication and interpersonal skills to her role at C3 Cares.
Her responsibilities include scheduling appointments, managing calendars, handling email correspondence, data entry, and providing customer support.
Rebecca Ntabane
Community Health Administrator

Rebecca Ntabane is a Community Health Administrator at C3 Cares, specializing in program coordination, patient support, and community engagement.

With a background in communication and administration, she streamlines patient-provider coordination, supports marketing efforts, and ensures efficient data management. While pursuing a BA in Communication Science, she applies her academic insights to her professional role.

Outside work, Rebecca runs a wellness channel promoting positivity and healthy living, while exploring entrepreneurial ventures.

Jewel Adelsberg
Public Health Outreach Specialist

In his role, Jewel drives C3 Cares’ PrEP initiatives by actively engaging communities near clinic locations, raising awareness about HIV risks in D.C., and promoting PrEP as a crucial preventive tool. He leads strategic efforts to meet grant goals, focusing on record-keeping, community networking, and building strong connections with stakeholders and residents.
